Last Magnetic Cylinder left NELA Factory

The shipment on July 13, 2016 of the last magnetic cylinder manufactured in our factory marked the end of an era at NELA. The success story had begun in 1971 with the first magnetic cylinder that had been designed and manufactured by NELA and which was presented to the public at drupa in 1972. Since then, thousands of NELA cylinders, which are mostly used in packaging printing for cutting and coining, have been shipped to customers worldwide. In the course of a restructuring process within our company and the resulting commitment to fully automated system solutions, NELA in May 2016 sold all production and sales rights for the magnetic cylinders to Rotometrics, one of its largest former cylinder customers (see separate press release).

The picture on the left shows the NELA magnetic cylinder Team and NELA's senior President Mr. Manfred Neumeister (front, right) with the last NELA magnetic cylinder that was shipped to Schober on July 13, 2016.

The picture below shows NELA founder Ernst Neumeister (front), his son Manfred Neumeister and his nephew Reinhard Neumeister with a magnetic cylinder at drupa 1972. At that time, Nyloprint printing plates were still in use.
